Last night we watched a rerun of the old Highway to Heaven show.  At one point in particular something nonsensical took place in the show.  As Kim, Mom and I discussed it, I explained it by saying, “Jonathan (the Michael Landon character) is an angel.  He just made a miracle happen.”

Kim amended what I said, “He asked God to make a miracle happen, and God granted it.”

This is how I am feeling about our Covenant Presbyterian Church finances.

Sometimes the miracle just hits me across the face. It doesn’t make sense to my rational mind that our 2017 budget we went from a $75,000 deficit at the beginning of December to a $7,000 surplus today.

All I can say is that YOU ANGELS made this miracle happen. The generosity of the whole congregation and the many who made special year end gifts has been spectacular.  On behalf of the staff, session, and Operations Commission we cannot thank you enough.

Can’t you just hear Kim amending the above paragraph?

We asked God to care for us. We asked God to show us a sign that He isn’t done with us yet. We asked God to make a miracle happen. And God granted us what we need.

In so many ways today I feel like Abraham when he was poised over his bound son, Isaac, in despair and needing a miracle. And then Jehovah Jireh, “The Lord Provides.”

We rejoice in your generosity!

We rejoice in God’s grace and providence!

We know miracles when we see them.

Thank you once more for asking and helping to make the miracle happen.
