2013 was just a disaster. Not for me, but the Houston Astros.
They lost a whopping 111 out of a 162 baseball games. Their winning percentage was a lousy .315. They ended up 45 games out of first place in their division. To make matters worse, that season they moved from the National League to the American League. They had no hope and no future. It was pretty bleak for the ‘Stros. It was just a nightmare that seemed to have no end.
You know what happened this week don’t you? The Houston Astros won the World Series. They were crowned the very best baseball team in America.
Sometimes things in our lives can seem bleak. We can be caught in disastrous situations or make the disasters happen by our own actions. Yet, there is always hope.
This is the message I always share with young athletes, with individuals struggling through tough times and with churches. One of the reasons I am in this interim pastor business is that I always know there is hope and a future for churches – even if they feel like they are in the middle of a losing streak.
“Hope in God, I will praise Him still. My Savior and my God!” Psalm 42:5
When life happens. When things are bad. When disaster strikes. Go to God. Praise God. Be one with God. When things are bleak. When it seems like the long night of fearsome dreams will not end. Depend on the Light of the World Jesus.
O.K. so I went way out there based on a weak baseball link. But, you know what I am saying. In Jesus Christ we always have hope and a future, and we will find our way.
Grace and Peace, Pastor Steve
