Youth Pastor
Like most youth pastors, JJ was born. He grew up in Davis, CA (the Cycling Capital of the World), a small college town in the Sacramento Valley. His parents were both educators and instilled in him at an early age the love for ideas and learning. JJ attended Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, CA, a small college town on the central coast of California. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Administration, which basically means he’s really good at playing.
He loves Jesus, his wife Tessa, and bikes. JJ fell in love with Jesus as a high school student and shortly thereafter fell in love with His Church and doing ministry. Not too long after that, he met and fell in love with Tessa. As a native of Davis (see above), the bikes have been a life-long relationship.
JJ is post-modern, post-evangelical, and Post Raisin Bran. He is a boisterous introvert, an intellectual mystic, and a hopeful cynic. He is imperfectly holy and wholly imperfect. He longs to see young people light up with awe for the God who saves them and with passion for building His Kingdom here on earth.
